The weather in 2023 was quite positive. After a very dry winter, March saw a mix of warm and cool days. April was remarkably cool, but brought the very important rainfall in the second half of April. Due to the rather cool weather, the vines budded at the end of April, which was relatively late. In view of the threat of late frost at this time, however, this was a positive development. Fortunately, the cooler temperatures at the beginning of May did not result in any late frost damage. This can occur until mid-May.
